Septimius Severus Bust reduction in bronze, inspired by the armoured bust of Roman Emperor Septimius Severus with paludamentum over the left shoulder, from Ostia, located at Palazzo Massimo alle Terme, Rome, Italy. Lucius Septimius Severus Augustus, 145 AD – 211 AD, was Roman emperor from 193 to 211 AD. Severus was born in Leptis Magna in the Roman province of Africa. As a young man he climbed the ladder through the customary succession of public offices during the reigns of Marcus Aurelius and Commodus. After the death of Pertinax in 193 AD, he seized power during the Year of the Five Emperors. This Asian man is doing his normal routine, as he practices his Martial Arts with his sword. As steady as he can be, he takes his time making sure he does not make any mistakes. In Martial Arts its all about consistency and patience, without one or the other it is impossible to keep all the work you put into it well done. He is wearing a long robe that ties around his waist and has these beautiful flower decoration all around it. His hair is tied slick back into a high neat bun, to make sure he does not get any hair in his face while he practices. This sculpture was cast using the ancient old “Lost Wax Method” stained in brown patina finish for preservation, mounted atop a black marble base and is signed.
